Australian Time-lapse Montage

The Australian Open just finished up. We watched one of the most grueling and longest Grand Slam singles finals ever. Novak Djokovic beat Rafael Nadal 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7 (7-5), 7-5, after 5 hours 53 minutes to claim his third Australian Open title. The women's final was such a let down, where Victoria Azarenka took her first title beating three-time Grand Slap champion Maria Sharapova 6-3, 6-0 in very short sets.

In the lead up to the finals, for two weeks, Dave and I stayed up late - often past midnight -  to watch some of our favourites (Nadal, Djokovic, Federer, Murray, Sharapova, Clijsters) duke it out with some young guns and newcomers we haven't heard of (Azarenka, Kvitova, Tomic, Makarova, Del Potro).

It's been thrilling and has even inspired us to take up tennis...if we ever find the time between soccer, volleyball and running. A few weeks after the tournament, I saw this video and it reminded me of how spectacular the Australian Open is and the city it's played in - Melbourne, Victoria.
This makes me want to buy a really good camera and learn how to create time-lapse footage. Keep your eye out for Aussie cinematographer Marcus O'Brien.
